Based at Leeds Bradford Airport, Jet2 operates an all-narrowbody fleet consisting of nearly 100 jet aircraft. While Boeing is presently the dominant force, Airbus will increase its footprint at Jet2 in the coming years. Let’s take a closer look at the makeup of Jet2’s fleet.
Dominated by Boeing 737s
According to data from ch-aviation.com, Jet2’s present fleet consists of 92 narrowbody jet aircraft. The dominant force at the airline is the Boeing 737 family, which accounts for 83 of these single-aisle planes. This figure comprises both the 737-300 and 737-800 variants, of which the Yorkshire-based carrier operates seven and 76 examples respectively.
At the time of writing, ch-aviation lists all seven examples of the 737-300 as being inactive. These aircraft are almost twice as old as the 737-800s, clocking in at 23.7 years old on average. Each of them seats 148 passengers in an all-economy configuration. These inactive twinjets are in storage in Almería, Spain, which Jet2 also serves as a seasonal destination.
Jet2‘s 76 Boeing 737-800s are currently seeing far greater use than its 737-700s, with 71 of the 76 presently listed as active. These popular narrowbodies are 12.3 years old on average, and seat 189 economy class passengers. Of the inactive examples, one is undergoing maintenance at Leeds Bradford, three are stored there, and one is stored in Dublin.

An increasing Airbus presence
While the Boeing 737 family dominates Jet2’s current fleet, European manufacturer Airbus is also increasing its footprint at the airline. The carrier presently operates a single 220-seat example of the Airbus A321, which is relatively young at 6.4 years old. It is also set to take delivery of another two examples, both of which used to fly for Thomas Cook.
However, in the future, Jet2 has much bigger plans for Airbus in the form of a significant order for the new A321neo. It initially announced this in August 2021, with 36 examples of the next-generation narrowbody requested. It has since added to this, and ch-aviation now lists 66 examples of the A321neo as being on order at the leisure carrier.
A small, aging Boeing 757 fleet
The oldest aircraft in Jet2’s current fleet are its eight examples of the Boeing 757-200. While these larger twinjets provide useful extra capacity on high-demand routes, their days appear to be numbered. Indeed, just three are presently active, and their average age is 31.1. years old. Historically speaking, Jet2 has also operated a further eight Boeing 757-200s.
Each of Jet2’s Boeing 757-200s has space for 236 economy class passengers. Two of the stored examples are currently in Almería, while the other three are presently sitting dormant at the airline’s Manchester base. At the time of writing, RadarBox.com showed that Jet2 was flying its active 757s to destinations like Alicante, Lanzarote, Mallorca, and Tenerife.
